About the Scholarship
The Walter K. Mis Law Scholarship supports students of Polish descent pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) degree at Alberta universities. This scholarship recognizes the importance of Polish-Canadian representation in the legal profession.
One scholarship of $3,000 is awarded annually to a law student who demonstrates academic excellence, community involvement, and a connection to Polish heritage.
Unlike the Hedinger Family Scholarship, the Mis Law Scholarship does not require a financial need statement, focusing instead on academic achievement and community contribution.

Academic Standing
- 2nd or 3rd year JD program student
- Enrolled at University of Alberta or University of Calgary Faculty of Law
- Strong academic record
Heritage Connection
- Of Polish descent, OR
- Active volunteer in Canada's Polish community
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident
Community Involvement
- Charitable activities and volunteer involvement
- Interest in using legal education to benefit the community
- No financial need statement required for this scholarship
