About the Scholarship
The Hedinger Family Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Lieutenant Jerzy Hedinger, a Polish naval officer who served during World War II, and his family. This endowment supports students of Polish descent pursuing undergraduate education at Alberta universities.
Each year, three scholarships of $2,000 each are awarded to students who demonstrate academic excellence, financial need, and a connection to Polish heritage or community.
Recipients are selected based on a holistic review of their application, including their academic record, financial circumstances, and involvement in charitable or volunteer activities.

Academic Standing
- 3rd or 4th year undergraduate student
- Enrolled at University of Alberta or University of Calgary
- Strong academic record
Heritage Connection
- Of Polish descent, OR
- Active volunteer in Canada's Polish community
